The newest member of the team, Robert W. Gutekunst, M.D., joined Indiana Pathology Consultants in 2002.  He received his undergraduate and medical degrees from Loyola University of Chicago.  Dr. Gutekunst completed his residency at Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Chicago, part of the University of Illinois Metro 6 program.  He is Board Certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology.

Dr. Gutekunst has practiced community hospital based pathology for 17 years, and has had assistant professor appointments at the University of South Dakota, and Rush University in Chicago.  He received several “teacher of the year” awards in pathology from his involvement in internal medicine and family practice residency programs.

Dr. Gutekunst is a fellow in the College of American Pathologists, and has been a member of the American Society of Microbiology, American Association of Blood Banks, and the American Society of Clinical Pathologists.  He has special interests in Clinical Pathology, particularly Blood Bank and Hematology.  His surgical pathology interests include breast, soft tissue tumors and gynecologic pathology.  His personal interest include golf, skiing and hockey.
